Over the course of the fall quarter, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs Herbie Lee and his team have produced another draft of the Strategic Academic Plan document based on robust feedback from the Senate and our community.

High Surf Advisory Sunday through Monday
The National Weather Services has issued a High Surf Advisory for Sunday and Monday through 9 p.m., December 16-17. These conditions can produce dangerous swells and large breaking waves from 25 to 40 feet, some locations exceeding 50 feet.

Interim director of Transportation and Parking Services
Dan Henderson will take over for Larry Pageler, who is retiring with 35 years of service to the university. Larry’s last day is Jan. 3.

Student Health Services closures next week
The Student Health Center, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), CARE and Student Health Outreach Promotion (SHOP) will be closed for the following December dates and times for mandatory staff trainings.

Sophos Antivirus Software Replaced with SentinelOne

Beach hazard warning through Friday morning
The National Weather Service has issued a Beach Hazard Statement for sneaker waves. This means that conditions are present to support a heightened risk of unsuspecting beach goers being swept into the sea by a wave.

Submit comments on revised proposed policy on open access for theses and dissertations
The Office of the President invites comments on a revised proposed Presidential Policy on Open Access for Theses and Dissertations. Numerous submissions were made in response to the draft policy during the first system-wide review. Reviewers provided a number of different suggestions for improving the draft policy. The UC Santa Cruz Chancellor’s Search Advisory Committee invites and encourages all staff members to attend a town hall at the Stevenson College Event Center at noon on Monday, Dec. 3.
