Microsoft will end support of Windows 7 on January 20, 2020. UCSC currently has more than 500 Windows 7 computers in use by instructors, staff and students. Therefore, ITS is preparing now for the Windows 7 retirement.

I am happy to announce that P.K. Agarwal will join us as UC Santa Cruz’s new dean of University Extension, effective Aug. 1.

On Saturday, July 20, 2019, the Santa Cruz Mountains Challenge (SCMC) road bike event will take place, affecting use of the bike path and some roads on Campus.

On August 26, you will begin accessing the UCSC Google Apps with your CruzID and Gold password (not your Blue password). UCSC Google Apps includes campus email, calendar, drive (docs, sheets, forms) groups, sites, etc.

We write to strongly reaffirm that UC Santa Cruz will not participate in any immigration raids and will uphold the civil and privacy rights of all of our community members regardless of immigration status.

As the Campus continues summer construction and repairs, Kerr Road will be closed in the coming weeks for new electrical service installation.

The University of California has been out of contract with Elsevier since January, but until now the publisher continued to allow access to 2019 articles via ScienceDirect. As of today (July 10, 2019) UC’s direct access to new Elsevier articles has been discontinued.

Zoom has assured us that the vulnerabilities are low risk and that UCSC Zoom accounts have not been exploited.

The UC Santa Cruz Police Department is seeking the community’s help in investigating a rash of thefts that began on June 30.

The Campus is continuing necessary construction and repairs during the summer months, implementing road closures and affecting traffic on McHenry Road.
